Actually, I'd rather see what you think of my photos, it's the GOOD comments that would freak me out. Aww, your English isn't that bad! I mess up worse and I was BORN here and have NEVER been out of the country - F3? Niiiice. Holy crap, you can tell what SHUTTER speed? O.||O||| < is scared out of her bloody mind. Yipes. Yeah, newest uploads are usually not the greatest, but think - at some point the other great ones had to be newest uploads. deviantART proves it - there's a 'in the past 24 hours' and so on. Bad at math? Did NOT see that one coming, but then again.... 'More like snapshots'? Alot of pics on flicker ARE just snapshots, some about people's personal lives (or so I've discovered) Oh - on a side-note: you said you had issues with sepia - what kind of issues? Woman in UK took a corpse on a plane: wow. I'd prefer to corpse too. O.O' This is what I get for typing as I listen to you talk - I scare myself. Niiiice. Either way, "see" you later then~! (and no, I did not pull and all nighter and no, I did not just wake up. I've been up since 4 - not a good choice since I went to bed at 11)

Comment love for you.

I agree Willow Moon, I would like to see what you think of my photos and what I can do to improve my photos. I loved the Flickr comments. True I have noticed that a lot of of the photo on Flickr are personal snapshots.
And your English is not bad. Shutter speeds wow you can tell which one was use. I would love to try a DSLR camera but still using a sony cybershot right now. I have gotten some good pictures with it.

Have a good Monday!!

Ps: if you have time and want to look at my pictures. If not I understand. Some are on these two sites.

1 - If you get enough people who would like you to critique their photos, you could start a group pool on flickr for those people to submit their work to you. It would be a great way to organize their work and would probably save you a lot of time.

2 - Regarding other critiques, maybe you could choose photos ahead of time that are good/bad examples of certain techniques that you'd like to talk about.

3 - Glad you're back, my Monday mornings have been slightly dull since your absence.

4 - I hate snapshots altogether. I guess some people just have bad taste. I understand the concept of wanting to have captured memories of vacations and special occasions, but what I don't understand is how a photo of someone standing by a restaurant sign (random), for instance, is in the least bit interesting or attractive, OR how it will serve any purpose at all a few years down the line.

5 - Busy day today. Can't stop making lists.

6 - It was kind of hard to make out your screen shots, as the video box measurements were kind of small. Maybe if you make the box larger, the screen shots will be easier to make out. We can definitely see them, though, just not all the details.

Thank you for the comments everyone.

Trista....awesome ideas. I like your suggested route and made a group on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/groups/thephotocritic

And you are right about the screen. I just realized that blogger video can't let you resize the video, so I think what I will do is separate the videos. Sunday will be Night Vlogs and I will start a new video segment called "The Photo Critic" which I will upload to vimeo. This way people can have the option to fullscreen it.

Cheers,
Serg

I liked the critiques and I'd have to agree with most of the ones you made. Yeah the screen was a bit small to try and look at the photos. Glad you are doing the flickr group.

A friend advised me that the best way to get yourself out there and known, is to join a bunch of groups on there and keep submitting photos to the group pool. (I think I have joined about 8 or 9-now thanks to yours.) I look forward to what you have in store.

Happy Monday :)

Yes I am seeing 4 now..and there's actually 5. (well 6 now) Strange. The internet is a weird place.

I think it would be pretty cool if you could critique some picture that we suggest, not necessarily ones we took.
And WOAH, you can tell shutter speed?! I can barely set my shutter speed!
Just another idea, maybe you could show some pictures of your own that you can critique, maybe some that aren't too awesome (good luck finding one).

Serg - Great blog. I love that you're going to be doing more on photography - its great to hear another perspective and get new ideas on ways to expand my knowledge and experience in photography. And you're hilarious. You try to be so politically correct in your critiquing and I don't think you need to be so careful. But, that's my personal opinion.

And for the record, I laughed out loud at your comparison between a corpse and a baby. I love it.

Thanks for taking the time to do this video blog - in addition with all the other stuff you have to do.

I love the flickr thing, I think it worked well the way you did it today. I think it would be cool to watch you bring up just any regular photo you've taken and see how you edit, what you look for, etc. That's a cool idea!

Maybe branching out to other sites, like deviantart and such instead of sticking to only flickr. Although it's mainly photography you could hit up vimeo and other video sites too.

Just throwing some ideas at you. Keep the vlog night coming Serg! :)

.....and I just scrolled down to read the other comments before posting and realized you've already done a lot of my suggestions. Sweet. haha.

Glad to be of help! :)

This head's full of ideas, that's why I have to make lists all the time. If not for my lists, I'd never remember anything, let alone get anything done!

Is it bad that as soon as you said the headline, I thought of John Locke first?

Anywho, I like the randomocity of just coming across Flickr photos; flexes those improv muscles.

Noticed the small cameo of the ever-popular iPad. What do you think of it so far? Is it worth the hype? And the $500?

Continuez à sourire. :)

I'm a bit behind the times with this post, but I thought I'd put my two cents in (as mortuary staff):

I'd rather sit next to a crying baby.

Creepy!
I've put bodies on planes before, but they've always been in caskets, and most certainly not in with the live passengers! Haha!

I like the introduction, it made me smile (not quite sure if you care but it did). I'm new to photography but your site is making for a good introduction. As for the figure off to the side (I think the same rule that my English teacher told me applies for photography: "first, you learn the rules and then you learn how to break them").
P.S. favorite quote," I just don't understand, I just don't . . . (in a sarcastic tone of voice)"
Btw, you should take a listen to your english is good by tokyo police club.
