Horoscope Fail

So I can definitely say that the horoscopes were an absolute fail. The current estimated population of the world is 6,773,000,216. There are twelve zodiac signs, so if we do a rather simple calculation we can say that there are about 564,416,685 pisces in the world. With so many pisces someone had to have the same horoscope those days.

As fun as this way, I think I would like to look more internally rather then externally. That is why I think I would like to start meditating.

But like I said in my report; I have been keeping busy with building up and putting together my photographs for my website. I don't want to just through a bunch of photographs on there. Each one has have some meaning behind it. Its gotta be done just right.

Other then that, just trying to enjoy some peace and quiet. Hope you all have a good Monday.

The focus for today will be on romantic matters, thanks to an obstructive aspect. Fortunately this aspect fades tomorrow, but today it’s likely to cause a certain amount of confusion and mixed signals from a member of the opposite sex who has the potential to be a friend, but nothing more!

A person you see a lot but don't know very well has a unique energy that you admire -- and they can help you build that same kind of energy inside of yourself. Try to spend more time with this person. Open up and accept the advice they give you. Their encouragement will buoy you to a new level of excitement and make you see that your life isn't boring -- it's just a work in progress. You can change the direction you're going in and spice up your romantic life with one or two small changes.

What did I do?

Today Ryan and I spent sometime cleaning up the house and the backyard. Saw Fast and Furious. Movie wasn't that bad at all. Nice mind numbing action.

Frustration is unfortunately likely to be the key word for you today. Some challenging influences from a number of planets and emphasized by Uranus mean that any attempts at making practical progress towards your goals will meet a number of small but effective obstacles!

Doubting yourself is absolutely normal -- in fact, it's healthy. When you doubt your actions, you apply a healthy skepticism to your decision making and help perfect it. Luckily, today, any doubts you have will be quickly erased. Today will be full of signs and affirmations that you are on the right path -- despite what other jealous people might be telling you. You are swimming with sharks now, but you are in no danger as long as you keep moving forward.

What did I do today?

Worked on a portfolio for my website. Went on a hike and chatted with my Dad.

You will be hugely popular today, not just with your friends but also with those who are in a position of authority. Your positive energy will impress everyone around you right now and may lead to some kind of formal recognition of your efforts. Definitely a day for celebration!

You might be in a more relaxed and passive mode right now, but that doesn't mean you should let yourself be treated like a doormat by anyone -- for any reason. If you feel like you're being taken advantage of today, stand up for yourself! Do not worry that you will come off as too aggressive if you push back when someone pushes you. If you let someone put one over on you even once, they will immediately assume that they can always push you around.

What did I do?

Went out and splurged a little. Got me a another monitor for the photo studio. Now I have two monitors hooked up to the computer. Also got a Western Digital firewire Harddrive. I cannot believe how much faster it is compared to the old harddrive. Spent sometime organizing my photos and transferring all my data to the new drive. Also chatted with my two friends from NY, Mike and Nicole.

You will find that you are full of energy today and will feel inclined to take part in some kind of intense physical activity. This is partly due to the fact that the moon has now altered its influences on you. Do be careful not to overdo it though as you will easily get carried away at this time!

It looks like things are going to start picking up for you romantically speaking, because a bunch of new people are entering your life. You're in the perfect position to build something bigger out of this momentum! You can finally build a partnership that will last longer than a few dates. You've been spending more time with people who stimulate your mind, and one of these people might be ready to get something going. Pick up the phone and get something social scheduled with them.

What did I do?
I was lazy.

Today’s planets will partly reverse what yesterday’s planets unsettled. The communication lines should improve, but not fully, although you could find that you’re in receipt of some useful information. By the same token romance could be simmering nicely by this evening!

You've stepped back and have been letting life move on around you without getting involved, and that was smart -- it kept you out of the current drama. But today, you might need to consider getting back into an active role. But if you decide to rejoin this rat race, just be sure to take things slowly. Baby steps will lead you down the right path -- and possibly into the right person's arms. Let yourself be taken care of a little while longer -- you deserve the attention.

What did I do?

Today was a rough day. I had to go to the office to take care of some taxes work for PRS LLC. Had a kind of a late start on the day; woke up at like 2PM. Got all frazzled by the late start and the taxes. Definitely needed a break later some time later tonight. Went out for a few drinks at the bar. Chatted with Mom. Not in that order....

Review of Presslite Vertex Revised

Review of Presslite Vertex Revised

So there have been a couple of reviews floating around that I have read on this little gizmo, but they are rather stale. I mean, if I could write a review about those reviews, that is what have to say. Wheres the passion? If you are gonna support a product that you think rocks then let me rock with you. Instead its like a trip to grandma's house on the day your friends want you to come out tothe movies with them. And not the kinda a trip where you leave with a $20 dollar bill either. Now I am not gonna go pointing fingers and naming names; my finger is way to important for that: I need it to take photographs. All I am saying is, if you are gonna support a product, then show me some ENTHUSIASM!!!

So lets start of with the appetizer of this review. I am in the mood for something light and not too filling, but something everyone can share and enjoy. For that I guess you guys need a little backstory and a lot of what the hell is Sergey talking about. In mid-August I was browsing this really awesome website called DIY Photography. There was a quick blurb about a device that was coming out in September. This device is known as the VerteX. It was love at first site. The way it looked, the way it moved; I was in awe. So I thought, let me send them out a quick email and do a little name drop that I am from Paranormal State and see what happens. Well come beginning of September I had a pre-production unit, a rented lense and a model that was ready to go.

Now for those that are curious about what I am talking about, just do a quick visit to their Presslite's website or go directly here for a quick demo on couple of its possibilities.

The photoshot that I did in my previous blog, was done using the presslite. Now because the biggest advantage of using the presslite is that it allows you to direct light to bounce of walls ceilings, etc, I had bring a stand and an umbrella for the outside photos. I will be first to admit that I probably do not have the most knowledge when it comes to external flashs and all the accessories that are out there, but I have an open mind and the ability to recognize potential in subjects. And that is exactly what the Presslite Vertex has in my eyes. It has the potential to open a person up to a whole other world of photography. Can one survive without the VerteX? Yea, I don't think every photographer needs it. But I think like an explorer, and to me, this is something worth exploring.

This review is not done. In fact I will go out and do a more technical photoshoot today...wheres Ryan and Xander at? But if you guys have any questions let me know and I will incorporate them in the review.

A quick story on sturdiness:
A lot of people have brought of concerns that it looks fragile and will break easily. That is not the case. As I was leaving the house with the camera, flash and vertex all attached I accidentally smacked the VertX right off the camera agaisnt the door. It went flying. Picked up, examinded it...nothing. Nothing broke. It still works and it works fine.

Keep on snapping....photographs, not at one another.
Serg

PS
I love my grandma.

Technical Report

Here are a couple of test shots and how the light reacted. I didn't have the ability to come up with the cool 3D animated demo on Presslite's webiste so I took photos of how my VerteX was positioned.

Set up 1: Light bounced of the mirror panel and hit the right wall. The other part of the light bounced of ceiling and a tiny bit of the diffuse panel.

Set up 2: All light bounced of the diffuse panels straight toward the the right wall.

Set up 3: All light bounced of the mirrors straight toward the right wall.

Set up 4: Half of the light bounced of he mirror panel and half bounces of the diffuse panel.

Set up 5: Half the light bounced of the mirrors straight toward the right wall. The other, smaller half of light bounced of the ceiling and a tiny amount of the mirrors heading directly toward the subject.

Set up 6: Something like 70% of light went toward the ceiling. The other 28% or so went toward the slight right and the other 2% toward the subject.

Did I really just write," I took photos of how my VerteX was positioned."?

A movie made for me...

So over the weekend, I was browsing the internet and I came across a trailer for a new movie that is due out this Spring: Shutter. Further research led me to discover that this movie was adopted from the 2004 Thai version. I included both versions for you all. This newer remake, still follows the premise that a young couple begin to mysteriously start seeing shadows in their photos.

( Thai 2004 Version)

(US 2008 Version)

The good: Photography and Paranormal. Finally a movie that is made for me. AND!!! its one day after my birthday. Is this a sign? I don't know? It comes out March 21st, 2008. I will still be accepting presents at that time.

The bad: I am not in the movie with a Canon camera.

What can I say...as a photographer and a paranormal investigator I am definitely gonna go watch this movie. When I go watch movies I like to put myself into it so much that after its over, I feel like I can do what the character did. You know in the Matrix when they teach Neo how to fight and stuff...kinda like that. After watching Die Hard when I was in jr high school, I was just hoping that the school gets attacked by German terrorists so that I could save the day. Or after leaving a good ninja movie I was ready to walk through some dark allies, hoping some mugger would try something. I would so be ready to...push my friends toward him and run.

But going back to this movie, like I was saying, this fits my character perfectly. I am honestly surprised that I wasn't asked to be in this one. Oh well, maybe the sequel, when it gets released straight to DVD. I guess what White Noise did for EVPs, this movie will do for spirit photography....oh man I hope this movie won't blow.

Stick around, I am hope to keep a close eye on this movie and I also hope to unveil some info on all sorts of paranormal photography. But first I need to find the right signature for my photos and this blog needs a new name.

Review from Reviews: Canon PowerShot SD950 IS

So its kinda hard to write reviews on products I don't have. There is no sense for it: touching, seeing, hearing, smelling, and/or tasting? Thats why this will be a review from the reviews I find online. I guess you can call it an average of all the reviews. You can call it average, if you're a math nerd. Which I sorta am. My day job is a mixture of a financial adviser, accountant, and bookkeeper. I know ladies, it IS a very attractive combination.

But anyway lets get the real nitty gritty of this blog. I am gonna get three different sources for photography related objects and give you guys the low down of...what...I read. Look I know it doesn't sound exciting or journalistic, but I will try to entertain you guys. While you read this blog, I will be juggling.

So I am a huge fan of the Canon products. The three digital cameras that have entered my life, have all been Canons. So for this edition of Review from Reviews, I will ...review..., THE Canon PowerShot SD950 IS! Rules of the game are simple: I go to the best search engine in town, Google (sorry, cheap attempt for getting sponsored by Google) and type in, "Canon PowerShot SD950 IS review." The first three results is what I used.

The review from CNET was pretty good. Editor rating was 7.8/10 and average user rating was 7.3/10. Hmmm standard...boring. Bear with me. We have to get through stuff before things really get spiced up. The next link was to, DP Review, which turned out to be a press release. I guess that doesn't qualify as a review, but it proved to be important. And the final reviewer was, Imaging Resource.

One of the biggest complaints from the CNET site was of the cameras "sluggish" performance. On average it took 2 seconds for the camera to take a shot after the first one was taken. This might be a little too long when you are trying to get a good photo with that hot chick that everyone is after. You can tell she is getting bored and frankly doesn't seem to be impressed with your camera...stupid whor....I'm sorry for that. Back to the review: when I checked out the press release from DP Review, there was no mention on what the shooting speed was. Which makes you think...are they not reporting these numbers because they are ashamed of them? No, of course not...actually compared to a lot of the other cameras out there, the speed was pretty damn good. So don't let that stop you from buying the camera.

I think the real big thing about this camera is that it shoots at 12.1 megapixals. If you are gonna shoot at full resolution, prepare to get a huge memory card and watch the space on your hard drive to fill up. The Canon Powershot ELPH cameras are great for beginners. I started out with an ELPH myself. It was an ELPH that caused me to fall in love with photographer.

There is not complete control option, but you can at least set the shutter speed up to 15 seconds. This is kinda cool, if you get into night photography and painting with light photography. (Keep watching, I am gonna write some articles about those topics.) And speaking of low light photography, one of the better features is the cameras 3200 ISO setting. Combine this with the Image Stabilization and you got yourself a nice little camera for this low light situations, where the flash cannot be used.

I will leave it at that...if you have used this camera before...tell us what you think in the comments.
