Collection of Photos from Tehran Street Protest

Post note:
Just something I want people to know. Some of the links below take you to graphic images and videos. This is a lot to take in, so I am just throwing this out as a warning. Be strong, believe.

With what has been happening in Iran this week, I would like to take part and help spread the message. Due to what many believe was a rigged election, the people of Iran have taken the streets with peaceful protests. Their request for a recount has been, instead, met with violent police and military action.

Here are some very powerful photos from protests throughout this week.

Pray for peace.

It's very easy for us carry on day by day and not even acknowledge that this is going on right now, but seeing those pictures and videos--actually seeing them in the streets fighting for freedom instead of just turning a cheek--their efforts being met with such violence and brutality... It just hits you in a certain place. And you don't know whether to tremble with rage or curl up in a ball and wail.

Wow.. wow..wow.. wow. That was sooo... impowering.

I find it strange(you probably don't because you are foreign) how Americans can totally warp they way people are perceived around the world. Sometimes I find myself lost in a train of thought about how barbaric other societies are.. and then I am reminded of how wrong I am, of how stupid and brainwashed I am to think that. Refreshing...

I'm sorry, I'm really drunk. I'm so drunk that I'm writing about how drunk I am. But I loved this post! AND I love you too!

Nehara Seraphine said...

LOL she's drunk, I'm high. Yeah. You've got quite a crew, here. ;D hehe.

I realized I left a word out, too. dammit. >.< (I'm so anal about stuff like that too).

Looks like you got some pretty avid followers here (I guess I would have to include myself then..) Thanks for sharing those pictures. I was watching the news this morning, and it is unbelievable what is going on. I hope their voices are heard. There is so much we Americans tend to take for granted...hope you have a peaceful weekend :)

well, i am an avid follower too.. but i was not drunk nor high when i posted! lol

Thanks for being human and not just another "celeb" looking out for yourself.

Okay... woke up today and saw this on my friend's blog. Things are getting bloodier there in Tehran. You might want to follow Larisa's blog... she's an investigative journalist and writes for RawStory.com. This is pretty graphic. (btw, not baked anymore lol)

The shots you hear being fired off (in the video on rawstory.com) are the police firing at the people. The longer this drags out, the more aggressive and violent those black-boot wearing, strong-arming b@stards will be...

I hope this doesn't turn out into another war...God we don't need another one. I am praying.

Last post... but here's another instance of unfairness, brought upon 2 innocent, young female American journalists in North Korea... trying to show the TRUTH... and being met by harshness.

http://www.atlargely.com/atlargely/2009/06/alert-two-us-journalists-convicted-in-n-korea.html

They were sentenced to 12 YEARS of reform through labor for "hostile acts". How could these girls survive the labor camps???
If you want to try putting some pressure on the State Department, check out the info at the bottom of Larisa's blog (2nd link).

(And thanks hockeygirl for posting some more Tehran pics. The truth needs exposure, especially since the media is being restricted.)

no problem Miss cloveR, the truth needs to come out and i think Pictures/video is the bets way.. words tend to just be forgotten and ignored.. when theres a picture it has a stronger affect... at least thats how i feel!

thanks for all the links to Miss cloveR, theyre shocking but good to see!

Thank you everyone for visiting, commenting and spreading the word. Links to stories and pictures are welcome. Thank you hockeygirl and Miss Clover.

As this world event unravels, I want to state my opinion on our involvement with this. I think it is important that we watch, listen and spread the news right now. I do not think that we are turning our backs. In fact I feel like we are showing our support to the Iranian people to be strong.

We can't interfere, despite all the violence. I think that its too early for that. If within the next few days the people overthrow the government, then they will be a much more stronger nation, then if were to step in now and tell them to break it up with our military force.

Once again, thank you everyone for taking your part in this historic world event.

I'm a little late in seeing these, but...wow. All of these pictures are so powerful.

As others have said before me, it's nice to have a face to the chaos. All the news has been giving this was a two second video of a bon-fire and a couple words on what's been happening. I saw Colbert's interview with an Iranian official, but he didn't really want to inform the country's state. It really takes a picture to bring light to the situation. Thanks for being humanistic. :)

I just looked at the photos and they are very powerful. Thanks for sharing and I just pray for peace there and here at home as well.

Amazing photos Sergey. Sometimes the best help that we can give is raising awareness!
