B

I like them both, but B wins out over all. I think shades of grey seem to impress me more.

B. A makes me think of being seasick. B makes me think of being warm.

definitely B, there's something serene about it. A seems fabricated .. err... manipulated; not natural.

Personally I like A because it's more adventuresome. B is nice for those classic photos that seems more industrial and clean cut.

Definitely B. I like the sepia sort of tones. it always reminds me of an old fashioned picture.

I prefer B, because it sheds light onto the sailboat and illuminates as the main focus of the photo.

B! I really love the brown tones.

B. B feels like it could be from a fond memory. Unable to connect with A.

B. The light isn't so overwhelming and allows you to see all the beautiful little details in picture. Feels more complete.

B. I like the way the light is centered. It is somehow mysterious but inviting. A seems cold and uninviting.

B, because it is more natural. It is prettier and more people like it. B makes me think of the sea more and it is natural. B makes me take my breath away and A does not have anything good and special about it.

B is better because it looks organic. A's colors look synthetic.

B blows A out of the water (no pun intended)! B, the composition is awesome, w/sienna overtones, I likie.

B wins it for me. i love the depth in the picture and all the contrast. The water looks so inviting and the clouds look beautiful.

I would pick B because brown tones makes you feel warm & calm inside. A seems mysterious and some what cold. I keep waiting for the Black Pearl to appear.

You are a talented artist. There are emotions inspired by both photographs but for me, I enjoy the second. I've always been a romantic at heart and the lighting in your second photo inspires romance, subdued emotions, a sense of mystery and...hope perhaps. Thank you for sharing!!! ~jozi~

I like B. I think it's beautiful. A makes me think of a sea of glass because it's green. I love A as well but if I had to choose I'd choose B. Both are gorgeous :)

As interesting as both photos are, B feels more comfortable to me. A has potential, but I feel as if I'm looking for something in the negative space, especially for the sails. I didn't realize until I looked closely at B that the sails were in fact down. I think A could be more interesting with a little more contrast, but to be honest, it doesn't do much for me. I do really like the thought of singling out the boat and the sea, but I think this would be a more interesting painting than a photograph.

B however, allows me to connect with the picture. I know where the boat is, I can visualize that location, and it feels a lot warmer. This photograph says that you care about the picture and the story it is telling.

You are a very talented artist, but there are times when I'm not sure what you're trying to say. There are also times when your art is a bit dark for my tastes (as in the color, not subject), but then again, I'm one for using natural light as often as possible, and then amplifying the contrast and hue. Hopefully you don't take this the wrong way, because I do enjoy your art. Keep trying different things, and seeing what YOU like in your art. The rest of us just have to keep up.

Both are really solid.
I like the texture of the water in A better than texture in B.
But I love the clouds in B.
Decisions, decisions...

sooo I suppose I will be the devils advocate and say A.

I like B because there is a mystified illumination surrounding the sailboat. The sun in contrast with the clouds gives this picture a sense of peace in a dramatic melancholic projection. Just breath taking! Nice job!

Definitely B. While I like the green in A, it washes out the sky too much.

B is definitely the winner. In A I feel like the light takes the focus away from the boat and in B the lighting overall is much better and the focus is clear :)

Picture B takes the cake Sergey. I love how you can see some of the rays of light reaching towards the water, carrying your eye to the boat and the water. Also, I love the layers in this shot - the boat laying over the line of clouds that stretch across the sky. And I just really enjoy the feeling of complete stillness and serenity in the picture. Amazing picture.

B.) Because it has more detail and contrast A is to light and looks over exposed

B has so much depth and is more interesting to the eye. A seems washed out with all of that white space.

I like B, Serg! It looks more like a natural photograph. Keep up your amazing photography!

Tough call, but I like B more. I like that the water is glistening more, and I always like pictures that capture sunbeams. I can feel the warmth, even though it's about 20 degrees outside right now!

I like B. B looks more rustic, while A looks more like a scene before a tornado. They are both amazing photos, but I do like B more.

While both are amazing picture's I like B the best because the picture gives you a sense of calmness that the other one doesn't.

B it doesnt hurt my eyes like A does.

I prefer A. Reminds me of a dream I once had. Also, there is something anticipatory about it, like the calm before the storm.

Trista said...

Neither because it's not shot on FILM! ;)

The first one is boring to be quite honest. I saw it and felt nothing. The colors were very off, there was just something very off about it altogether. The green hue doesn't suit the photo at all.

The second one however, is great. How the effect was used (it seems like you used sepia though I might be wrong)actually gave it very strong light/dark contrast; the sun rays peering through the dark sky, hitting the dark boat, and hitting the water so you could see the ripples of the small waves perfectly. It has a lot more feeling to it, and is more attention grabbing.

I like A--it's bright and makes me think that if I were on that boat I would have the whole day ahead to sail!

Both of the pics are nice, but I like A best. I like the green tones, it makes the atomsphere cool. I can envision sitting on the boat and feeling the cool sea breeze against my face.

I choose picture B. The contrast is pretty much equal between A and B, but in picture A, the white part is so bright that the clouds in the background cannot be seen, and some parts of the boat are washed out and made virtually invisible. In picture B, the contrast between the top half and the bottom half is still there, but the clouds in the background are visible, distinct rays of sunshine are discernible, all parts of the boat can be seen in great detail and the more even brown-tones make the picture look like it goes to all four borders of the image. In picture A, the really bright white part makes it appear as if a vast portion of the picture has just disappeared.

B is amazing. I love being able to see the clouds in the background.

Hi. If I HAD to pick, I think I would pick B. Although there is visual interest in both, I prefer to see the sun burst and clouds on the horizon. A has a lot of implied lines which is usually appealing but the depth of field is lost with the blankness above the horizon. How did you get A to be green? I prefer non-computer manipulated photos.

A. it seems like the boat is sailing into the unknown, just a light, & who knows where it will end up? i really like that. i like the look of the sky & water in B but in that one the boat looks like it's just chilling. which is also cool, but A is the one that strikes me as having movement and possibility.

i like b better. The green makes me feel trapped by the light, but the other one makes me feel peacefully at sea.

'B' for me as 'A' is too bright for my eyes! Also 'B' because It looks more serene and calm :~)

Both pictures convey a sense of waking up in death, but being at peace. Photo A stands out the most to me though. Great work! I'm still learning the photography process, how were you able to tweak the color?

P.S.
I don't mean to be so damn morbid.
