So….its been awhile since we last interacted…this is kinda awkward…
I…auhh…what? Did you say something? No? Ok, let me start then…
Its that time again. FILMING! That’s right,
But anywho, that is where most of my time has been put into. Although don’t fear my dear reader, I made sure to devote some time towards my progression for becoming a professional photographer. Like what you ask?
Well at the counter at the grocery store I flipped through Shutterbug magazine….ok ok I know that sounds pointless, but hear me out.
Well...I reached out and got two magazines that responded: Shutterbug and PC Photo. The editors told me that they would be interested in a couple of my ideas, but they need to see the photos first. So that is where I am at right now. Hoping that I am able to show them some photos that will rock their world, that will blow their socks of their feet, that will blow their feet off, if they aren’t wearing socks. Something truly amazing.
Hmm...I was just playing with my Rebel and I noticed something odd. The lower I set my ISO the more photos I can take. The higher my ISO is set at, then the less photos I can take. I need to investigate this mystery because its honestly making my brain hurt. How could this be? Do higher ISO photos take up more space?
So I journey into this first case of the season with just my Canon ELPH and a 50mm Prime on my Rebel, hoping I can blow some feet off.
I will share some of the photos with you all when I return.*
*Sharing may not occur if images taken during case come out unfortunate.

Nice to se Serg is back...but I figured you guys were filming for PS. Good luck with the photo magazines. You gotta start somewhere and hey, if you don't blow their feet off, at least do their toes, but the whole leg would be great too. It is the same to send sample photos to these magazines as it is to send out samples of writing to magazines. Tough business, but I think you got the goods, eh! We all hope to see more of your amazing work...oh yeah, before I forget, I was a little sad to see my film processing outlet go belly up on the 11th of October. Yeah, digital is the bomb, but there is something about using a 30 year old Pentax and real honest to gosh film....the smell and feel of the canister and film itself is a sensory delight. So where do I go now...build a darkroom in the basement? Ah, progress...takes us ahead and leaves us behind....
Aww, but unfortunate photos are the best :]
I SWEAR I am looking for those Holga photos. I WILL find them. So far, I found some Holga ACCESSORIES and a photo of my dog that I took with it...but that's about it. Stupid basement...
Can't wait for the photos, though. :D
Yahh serg is back!! I was wondering where ya went. So congrats on your photo magazine idea, hope ya get the chance to "blow some feet off" haha im gunna use that from now on..Just kidding :)
You'll get the "job" i know it...its just cause your that amazing :)
What is an ISU? I am completely clueless when it comes to technology. Kinda sad, still learning all the buttons on my camera. I get distracted too. ADD is awful. That is why I will never be able to drive. I would probably hit a few people with my car. ;)
I've pondered the same ISO question for some time now. I think it's akin to how Santa gets into your house on Christmas Eve if you don't have a fireplace - he manages to find a way in, it's best not to think about it that hard ;)
Good luck with the photo mags! We'll be lookin' out for ya!
best of luck serg!!
Congratulations on getting the attention of two photography mags! Believe me, this is just the beginning for you!
Nice to hear from you again Serg! Try to keep in touch with us when you're not too busy filming!

Hello,
I was talking to my uncle about ISO and I told him of your little mystery about if you lower the ISO then you will get more photo's...He said this is not true. It depends on how you load your camera. It will say right on the box ISO 36 so that means you will get 36 pictures, and mabey even 37 or 38 if you load it right...
Hope this helped ya with your mystery, and hope this makes your brain stop hurting...just sharing what he said..alrighty then
Peace
As far as becoming a contributor to a magazine it's all about marketing yourself. I would think that everything you are doing now including you being on P.S. is a great advantage. Everything that you have ever written on or offline, photographs, your experiences, and general enthusiasm CAN get you were you want to be as well as being great samples of your work. When writing to magazines I highly suggest that enthusiasm and your personal side be evident. Magazines want contributers to love what they do as it will show in their work.
Serg -- if you truly want to blow the socks off of people feet, you really need to come to northern Maine, the Houlten/Hodegeton area. Especially Mars Hill. Just last week, I went riding on ATV trails, just to overlook the scenic veiw. Maine is truly incredible for photography, but you must come before the snow get here!
On Mars Hill, some of the worlds largest wind turbines were put in place. Just driving by amazes you. My grandmother, at the time of her death, was buried right under Mars Hill, and it is just so gorgeous to look up and see its beauty. Check this link out. Its mainly of the wind turbines themselves, but if you come to see Mars Hill, you will get the whole package.
