Enter, New Year

Welcome New Year.

So what brings you here? New ideas, commitments, aspirations....followed by chocolate, television, and 3-hour naps. That's right, a time where we create resolutions to fill a void in our lives. I'm too fat, I have no job, I need a relationship....and the list goes on, along with hopefully, some possible solutions.

A rather symbolic time in our society, but somehow I feel the symbolism is overlooked. Swallowed up by Santa Claus himself, and how could it not be, what with all the lights, gifts, friends and family.

As the year grew closer to its demise, it also grew closer to its resurrection. The Phoenix is my New Year and I am the Phoenix. It is around this time that I start to respect the mistakes that I have made and hope that I can use them to help turn myself around.

.....so i started writing this two days ago and then stopped as I remembered I needed to do something else, a photographic promise I made to myself...

I thought it would be fitting to continue from here with the news that you all may or may not have heard: our decision to make this the last season of Paranormal State. The choice was not made lightly; but something that we have been thinking for quite some time.

I am extremely grateful for Paranormal State; the journey has been long and hard (thats what she said) but rewarding on so many levels. For one, investigating human spirituality; something that I had kept very simple for many years. Being good is common sense. Growing up, I had no ghostly visitations; I was spirit-free, well free-spirited....flowing with life, allowing it to guide me where I needed to go. Of course the younger me; never really thought of life this way. As I started to grow with PRS I saw life from a different point of view. That some things, happen for a reason; that moments of randomness stop being chaotic at times, and align for a reason that we may not fully understand.

And now years later, we stand at a cross road with Paranormal State. One arrow pointing towards the possibility of the next season, the other to destination unknown. We are making the choice to not wait, to not wait in hopes that something, or someone will come along, but to take the chance in thought that this is where life wants us to turn. To make that right at the intersection and feel alright; almost like its meant to be.

To our many fans and supporters, I can't help but thank each and everyone of you. I feel that there were some moments where I wasn't able to show my gratitude to you because at times I just wanted to get out of the spotlight. But we would never, ever have been able to take this path if it wasn't for you guys.

We will continue to work with all of our clients who still need help, we will continue to open doors to the unknown and we will continue doing what we feel is right.

Who knows where the next path will take us, but with the new year upon us, I can't help but feel deep inside that this was the right choice, and I think that's what truly matters.

Much love,
Sergey

Serg, Paranormal State might have introduced us (your fans), but I know it was not the show that kept me returning to your blog each week. It is your talent for photography. It is your humor. It is your addiction to Green Tea.

You did inspire me to pursue photography. It is a great hobby, which I would not have appreciated it, if it was not for your photographs.

Paranormal State the series may be over, which I will truly miss. However, there are other things in your horizon. It was a good run and I am so glad to be a part of it.

So, I salute you, Serg! I lift up my glass of champagne and toast to good fortune to you in 2011.

Until next time,

Kyle

Serg,

I know it was a tough decision for all of you. Paranormal State will be missed by me and other fans. Like Kyle said, it is your love of Photography and mine that brings me back to your blog week after week. Paranormal State introduced me to you and the rest of prs. and fueled my interest in the paranormal as opened me up to coming to know you as a awesome and talented guy as well as I know the rest of the crew it.

I hope 2011 bring you all that you wish for and continue the blog and vlogs to continue with the photography and showing us your work and also the green tea addiction.

as the old saying goes... "no matter where you go.. there you are" or something along those lines. Fate intercedes with all decisions in life. I know that there is an uprising in Paranormal activity coming very soon. We investigators feel it in our bones. You have a year of new beginnings ahead of you and new opportunities along with it.

From one Photographer to another i do love your work. I shoot paranormal all the time and i found that 35mm get's the best results.

No matter what happens good luck to you and all of your projects of 2011

"That's what she said" hehehehehehe...oh wait, what were we talking about? I'll miss the show but I'm sure it won't be the last any of us will hear of you.
Good times are coming your way.

Sergey you know that we all adore you and that what ever you and the others decide we will stand by you.

As much as you can while some of us, like myself, are on the other side of the world. :/

But still, I am sad to hear the news that the show will finish, but I am happy that it might mean more photos from you. Your photos have gotten me use photography as a way to fight my PTSD, and I want to thank you for that.

You showed me that you can do what ever you set your mind to, and still look cool playing with horses. xDD

Can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve.

Ashleigh.

Once you have stood, freezing in a field in Gettysburg, late at night, on a field trip with someone..you are bonded for life. In all seriousness though, I've always felt that you have been overshadowed, standing the background and that most people never took that extra step to realize just how smart, talented and driven YOU are.
May the light shine on YOU in whatever path your life takes you because, while you may not want it.....it is deserved.
Thanks for taking us along on the ride.

"I feel that there were some moments where I wasn't able to show my gratitude to you because at times I just wanted to get out of the spotlight."

It doesn't take a television show to feel that way. Been there many times.

Yes, there were some crazy aggressive fans who just wanted a few moments to dip your naked body in chocolate syrup and lick it clean, but the other crazy fans -- such as myself -- appreciated your vision and your willingness to take risks. I could say that about you, Eilfie, Josh, Topher, Alan, and Ryan too.

The near future will be scary at times, but I am excited to see what this next chapter has in store for you.

. . . .Oh and Heather, Katrina, and Katie too. (there are others, but my mind is feeble right now).

Serg,

Good luck on your resolutions and promises to yourself. (:

As for Paranormal State, I'm going to miss it. I always liked the show, even though it scared the crap out of me at times and made me laugh hysterically at others (baby powder anyone?). Even though I'm going to miss the show, I know I'll still be able to contact you and the others through your blog and twitter.

It's funny, because I actually started reading your blog before I really started following the show. I really liked (and still like) your blog, and thought, "I should really check out Paranormal State". So I did.

I know I'll miss the show, but it won't be so bad, because I can still follow your blog (that sounded creepy. Sorry :P ) and check out your amazing pictures. (:

Good luck in the New Year!!

Keep smiling!!

-Jenn

I will miss a paranormal show that helped people instead of just "locking" themselves into well known haunted locations or have to "big name" guest of the week.

I started watching the show just because it was about ghost hunting, but soon learned it was so much more than that...so very much better.

And I then found your blog. I always loved reading or watching your post. I've been playing around with photography for longer than you've been alive, but I still learned things from you.

I hope you will continue with your post here. Please put new pics of Xander now and then.

The best of wishes in the new direction you're going, may more good than bad come to you and all the other PRS family!

This is really a bit sad for me. I think I speak for most, if not all, of the fans when I say that the saddest part is that it feels like a friend moving away.
One of the things that drew me to the show was the fact that you all seemed down-to-earth, like people I would hang out with, or be friends with. I enjoyed the interactions between you as well as the adventures you all had.

(Stupid computer)

That being said, I hope the best for you all. I hope we continue to see you, and that you all succeed in life. Rock on, guys!

Serg, I truly appreciate your blog and love your photos. I was wondering what plans you guys had made after leaving Paranormal State, but I really believe in sometimes just taking a leap of faith..after I read your stance, I was thinking to myself "Self, sometimes you have to take risk, big ones to get anywhere in life...Good luck and I await the Phoenix you become.

Hmm... so does this mean you'll have more time for things like.... oh, I don't know.... more double exposure experiments?!

It will be interesting not seeing the show on anymore but many of us will love to keep hearing from you. I know I personally seem to take a little something from every one of your posts when I choose to leave your blog and go somewhere else. I always seem to find some sort of inspiration either for life or for my own blog (be it a story from my life or a completely fictitious short story). Keep writing and sharing for all of us that enjoy your blog!

Thank you for all the hard work you and the others put into the show, and for taking the time to share your life with us, and your knowledge! I'll miss my favorite show, but wish you only the best.
